The Lumberjack Women's Basketball team dropped a Mon-Dak Conference game to Lake Region State College 80-51.
The Jacks struggled to get things going offensively shooting just 18% from the field. However, the Jacks were able to go 7-8 from the free throw line. The free throw line has been a bright spot for DCB, the Jacks are shooting 76.7% from the charity stripe which ranks 3rd in NJCAA Division II. Individually Jersey Vogel ranks 4th shooting 86.5%. After one quarter the Jacks trailed the Royals 19-12 after one quarter. The second quarter saw an uptick in offense for the Jacks shooting 35% from the field but 7 turnovers proved to be costly at the half LRSC led 38-23.
The third quarter was a big offensive quarter for the Royals, and they widened the lead between themselves and the Jacks to 63-37. The fourth quarter was tightly contested but LRSC would take the game 8-51.
Ava Gourd led three Lumberjacks in double figures with 13. Vogel finished with 11 and Mel Upfield added 10. Lara Graham led the Royals and all scorers with 18 points.
With the loss Dcb falls to 3-21 overall and 0-8 inside the Mon-Dak. The Jacks are next in action Monday on the road against Mon-Dak and Region 13 foe United Tribes Technical College. The Jacks are 1 game behind the Thunderbirds whoever is higher in the final Mon-Dak standings hosts the Sub-Region Championship.
