The Lumberjack Women's Basketball team dropped a pair of games this past weekend after. Falling Friday morning 92-66 to Minnesota West and 109-65 to Gillette College Saturday morning.
92-65 loss to Minnesota West
The Jays who entered the game ranked 3rd in the latest NJCAA DIII Poll jumped out to an early lead. The Jacks were able to get it back to within two possessions midway through the first quarter. Minnesota West would take control of the game with a 13-2 run to end the quarter. After being held to 22 points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters combined DCB scored 27 points in the final 10 minutes of the game. The Jacks won the fourth quarter 27-13 but dropped the game 92-66. Jersey Vogel led four Lumberjacks in double figures with 13 points. In her season debut Serinity Soland had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Ava Gourd and Kenya Poitra each had 10. Izzy Klumper led all scorers and the BlueJays with 21 points.
109-65 loss to Gillette College
On Saturday morning the Jacks took on a hot shooting Pronghorn team that shot 63.5% from the field enroute to their 109 points. DCB moved the ball well with assists on 21 of their 24 scoring opportunities. The Jacks also knocked down a season high 10 three pointers. Vogel led two Lumberjacks in double figures with a season high 26 points, Gourd joined her in double figures with 13 points and dished a team high 6 assists. Lina Ballin led Gillette and all scorers with 27 points.
With the losses DCB falls to 2-13 overall. The Jacks kick off Mon-Dak play Thursday when they host Williston State College. Tip-off is set for 5:30p.m.
