The Lumberjack Women's Basketball team earned their first win of the during a split that took place in Thief River Falls, MN this past weekend. On Friday they fell to Northland Community and Technical College 72-42. On Saturday they got the win 54-45 over Minnesota North Itasca.
72-42 Loss to NCTC
In the loss Jersey Vogel was the lone Lumberjack in double figures with 23 points and shot 53% from the field. Talia Vargas led the team in rebounds with 9. Freshman Center Mel Upfield racked up 11 blocks inside.
54-45 Win
A 7-0 run to end the first quarter would give the Jacks the lead they would not surrender the remainder of the game. The Vikings would make things close a handful of times, but the Jacks always had an answer and would pull away. Vogel again led the Jacks in double figures with 22 points Vogel also pulled down 11 rebounds for a double-double. Vogel was joined in double figures by Brooke Anderson with 15 points. DCB played great team basketball with 17 of their 21 made shots coming off of assists.
With the win DCB moves to 1-4 on the year. The Jacks travel to NDSCS Friday and Saturday for games against the University of Jamestown JV and Mayville State JV teams. Game times are set for 1:00p.m. and 11:00a.m. respectively.
