Volleyball Goes 2-2 On Their Four Game Homestand

The DCB Ladyjacks volleyball team went 2-2 in their last four games, all home games on consecutive nights.  

Due to Covid the MonDak went to having their teams play each other three times this season.  To make traveling a little easier on the budgets many teams have to play back to back nights on the road. 

Miles Community college kicked off the homestand on Friday Feb. 26 by defeating DCB in straight sets 26-28, 23-25, 16-25.  Sophomore Shonte Seale lead the team in kills with 16 while freshman Bailliee Williams had 16 digs.  Freshman Helen salt had am impressive 7 blocks. 

 The next night the Ladyjacks fought to a 3-2 (15-25, 27-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-13) win.  Seale had a career best 33 kills as Miles had no answer for her hitting from different spots in the front row and back row.  Williams again was brilliant on defense picking up 21 digs wile freshman middle Chante Moore had 7 blocks.  With this win the Ladyjacks win the season series against Miles after defeating them in January at Miles City. 

It was a wild finish to Sunday's game vs Dawson CC.  DCB split the first four sets (27-25, 20-25, 25-20, 17-25) to set the stage for the 15 point tie-breaker.  DCB got off to a quick start only to fall behind late.  Dawson was serving 14-10 before the Ladyjacks went on a 5 point run to take the lead at 15-14.  The two teams traded points until the Ladyjacks finally won 21-19,  The crowd was loud and the action was intense.  Seale again lead the attack with 26 kills with Moore adding 12. The team played perhaps their best defensive game of the season with five different players picking up double figure digs totals.  Williams had 21, freshman Bailey Hufschmidt 13, Seale 12, while freshman Jisela Chairez and Dashonta Addison each added 10.   Addison picked up 28 assists while Sam Harris added 17.  The Ladyjacks were a wall on the block as several players picked up season high block totals.  Moore had 7 blocks while Seale, Salt and Sophomores Masaya Archbold and Rebekka Bummer all added 4. 

On Monday March 1st the Ladyjacks dropped a 3-1 decision to the NJCAA Div. II #11 ranked team Bismarck State College. After losing the first two sets 20-25, 19-25  the feisty DCB squad went on to win the third set 26-24. They fell behind early in the final set falling 25-14.  Seale and Moore lead the way offensively with 17 and 13 kills respectively.  Seale picked up a season high 6 blocks while Bummer added 3. Williams had 25 digs while Seale added 20. Addison picked up 27 assists while Harris added 11.
