The Lumberjack Men's Basketball team cruised to two home victories Friday and Saturday over the Blazers of Canadian Mennonite University. 102-74 and 99-54.
102-74 Win
Despite nine turnovers, shooting just 23% from beyond the arc and allowing the Blazers to shoot 48% from the field, DCB still held a 50-42 halftime lead. This is in part to the Jacks continued strong performances off the bench. At the half Damjan Tapuskovic led DCB with 10 points on 5-6 shooting. Elijah Reynolds added 9 more also coming off the bench. The Jacks took control in the second half holding CMU to under 40% shooting from the field and just 12.5% from three-point territory. Meanwhile DCB was able to shoot nearly 49% from the field in the second half to pull away and take the win. Edward Lual led the Jacks in the second half with 13 points on 5-5 shooting including a couple rim shaking dunks. In the end DCB would pick up the 102-74 victory. Lual led 5 Lumberjacks in double figures with 23 points, While Tapuskovic and Reynolds finished with 16 and 15 respectively. Ethan Short added 11 off the bench, and Jaden Arzola finished with 10 points. George Fedorchuk led CMU with 18.
99-54 Win
The Jacks carried their momentum over to day two limiting CMU to just 29% shooting. On the offensive side of the ball the Jacks had seven players score 4 or more points in the first half and committed just 5 turnovers. The Jacks kept things rolling in the second half enroute to a 99-54 victory. Tapuskovic led all scorers with 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for a double-double he was joined in double figures by Arzola who had 12 off the bench. Eight Lumberjacks scored 7 or more points.
DCB improves to 6-3 overall and will next be in action next Monday at Mayville State JV.
