The DCB football team (3-2) stayed undefeated on the road after a dominant performance at Minnesota West (2-3). The jacks won 39-7 due to what Head Coach Dan davis called "a total team effort".  The Jacks dominated play defensively, as they have in most of the games they have played, giving up just 114 yards of total offense to the Blue Jays.

After a scoreless first quarter it was the defense that set the table for the first scoring play stopping Minnesota on a botched punt and giving the ball to the Jacks offense on the Jays 18 yard line.  A couple of plays later Jaylen Wilson punched it in from the 3, putting the DCB up early.  Jaquon Long hauled in a 20 yard Jackson Argoe pass to put the Jacks up 12-0 with just over a minute left in the quarter.  Alex Knoebel added the PAT for a 13-0 lead.  The Jacks defense forced a three and out and after using timeouts to stop the clock Knoebel was called upon to make a 30 yard field goal, which he easily converted, sending the Jacks to the half up 16-0.

In the third quarter Defensive lineman Kelvin Townsend scooped up a fumble by QB Frank Cromer and followed a sea of blockers for a 61 yard fumble recovery touchdown.  Knoebel again converted the TD.  With 8:48 left in the third quarter it was the Jacks defense again adding points as they sacked Cromer in the end zone for a safety, putting the Jacks up 25-0 with plenty of game left to play.  The defense picked off a pass five minutes later and QB Jackson Argoe completed a drive with a 3 yard TD run.  Knoebel added the PAT to give the Jacks a comfortable 32-0 lead.

With eight minute remaining in the fourth quarter the offense put together an impressive 9 play 79 yard drive culminating with a 14 yard Jaylen Wilson TD.  Knoebel added his fourth consecutive PAT, after missing the opening attempt, to make it 39-0 Jacks.

With the game essentially all but over the Blue Jays scored a controversial TD with 4 minutes remaining.  It a appeared that a DCB defender had intercepted the ball in their own end-zone and was down before having the ball stripped away by a Blue Jay receiver.  After a consultation between officials the TD was awarded to the home town Jays.

Argoe finished the game 12-27, 200 yards passing with one TD.  Jaylen Wilson picked up 131 yards on 20 carries with Tymious Goodman adding 50 yards on 8 carries.  DCB finished with 389 yards of total offense.

Knoebel kicked 1 FG and 4 PATs and out averaged 58.4 yards on kickoffs giving the Jacks a decided edge in that area.

Defensively it was a total team effort as 24 different players picked up at least one tackle.  The team's defensive depth has certainly been a strong point throughout the season.

DCB celebrates homecoming Saturday, October 6th against the undefeated North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats.  NDSCS defeated these same Blue Jays last week 28-7 and yesterday defeated Minnesota State 30-6.  Game time is 2:00pm at Les Christian Field.  See you there!
