DCB football won a wild one in Thief River Falls, MN Saturday, defeating Northland CTC 48-39 in a game that featured over 1000 yards in total offense and 87 points.
DCB jumped out to an early 14-0 lead before Northland cut the score to 14-13 in a 6 minute span. The Pioneers took the lead late in the second half before a DCB touchdown and 2 point conversion gave the Jacks a 28-26 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, DCB took a 10 point lead before another comeback by Northland to cut the score to 36-33 DCB at the end of the stanza.
Northland took the lead with about 7 minutes to go 39-36. The Lumberjacks made a couple of crucial defensive plays late to give the offense good field position. An interception by the Jacks led to the go ahead touchdown with 2 minutes remaining, then another interception returned for a TD by Isaiah Dennis-McLean accounted for the final score.
For DCB, Jackson Argoe threw for 343 yards and 3 TDs. Kevonta Moss had 163 yards receiving while RB Elijah Todd continued his impressive start to 2017 with 114 yards and a TD. Defensively, Trent Postma had 11 tackles while Nick Madourie had 2 sacks and 2 forced fumbles, one of which was returned by Fabian Gordon for a TD.
DCB, now 1-0 in their division and 2-1 overall, will hit the road for the 3rd time in 4 weeks this Saturday when they travel to Willmar, Minnesota to play Ridgewater College. Game time is 1:30.
